Transparent walls and a prominent arched window illuminate the meeting room, creating an environment where spaces seamlessly flow into one another and foster collaboration and openness. A full-height arched window allows the conference room to interact with the outside. At the centre, the lunch table overlooks the heart of the office, a vibrant courtyard enclosed by floor-to-ceiling industrial steel windows, flanked on either side by a model-making room, and the workspace shared by the principals and partners. It opens up to become one with the cabin and model-making room, creating an indoor-outdoor environment.
" Bawa embedded the landscape into his buildings as a structural condition - not as decoration. The frangipani tree in our courtyard comes from that same instinct. It anchors the space, brings in light and a sense of season, while also paying homage to his way of placing landscape at the heart of architecture." - Shefali Balwani, founding principal.

The principal’s cabin, adorned in muted tones and neutral felt-textured walls, becomes a canvas for project photos and models to claim the spotlight in a harmonious interplay of form and texture. Clerestory windows infuse the office space with an interplay of light and shadow. The auditorium staircase seamlessly integrates with a multifunctional area designed for employee seating and interaction. Lastly, a simple yet refined marble shelving unit gracefully extends from floor to ceiling, providing an exquisite repository for a multitude of samples in office.

The harmonious material palette of wooden flooring, Indian marble, and green particle board seamlessly meld together, creating a cohesive and elegant fusion. Many surfaces have been left unfinished to give them a raw, timeless look that will age beautifully with the studio. The overall sensibility is earthy, with natural tones of brown and grey, highlighted by plants and small pops of colour.
Light plays a big role in creating the atmosphere. As the day progresses, sunlight casts interesting shadows across the walls and corners, adding a touch of warmth and charm to the space. Furniture and fabrics have been chosen to soften the industrial feel, making the studio cosy and inviting. Key features, such as a Frangipani tree in the courtyard and the Ena De Silva tapestry in the reception area, pay homage to the work of architect Geoffrey Bawa, who continues to inspire the practice. The studio’s neutral design allows the artwork, books, and models on display to shine, giving the space a unique and creative character.
