Paadi is a creative retreat designed for artists, architects, and designers to rest, recharge, and reconnect with inspiration. Inspired by traditional leisure shelters found near paddy fields, the project revives the cultural and emotional essence of these simple structures while transforming them into a contemporary private gathering space.

The design emphasizes openness and a seamless connection with nature. Spaces are arranged in a fluid layout with minimal enclosure, allowing living, dining, and sleeping areas to flow naturally into one another. Except for the toilet, the structure avoids conventional rooms, encouraging flexibility and shared experiences. The ground floor accommodates essential functions, while two mezzanine levels provide additional sleeping and recreation spaces that remain visually connected to the main floor.

Material exploration plays a significant role in the design, reflecting the client’s expertise in exposed building finishes. Polished concrete, exposed plaster, yellow oxide, cor-ten steel, and reclaimed wood create a raw yet harmonious aesthetic that blends with the surrounding landscape.

An organically shaped pool and native planting strengthen the connection between indoor and outdoor living, making the space ideal for relaxation and gatherings. Paadi ultimately becomes a tranquil retreat that balances tradition, nature, and contemporary material expression while nurturing creativity and meaningful human connection.
