PratiRaj Residence, the penthouse in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai (India), achieves richness with a minimal
approach, exuding luxury with moderation.
‘We respected the clients’ (the Saxena’s) need to bring comfort and spaciousness in the same breadth,
without compromising on the luxuriousness,’ said Ishwar Rungta, founder of IR Design Studio.
The beholder’s journey begins with a dramatic entrance and a glowing welcome to PratiRaj Residence.
This is achieved by setting the bold wooden veneer lettering upon a black marble panel in contrast to
the ‘black-and-white’ geometric flooring and a tiled white background. A gilded contemporary Lord
Ganesha sculpture coupled with the Saxena nameplate above the plants frames the first look for the
visuals the guests may expect within the home. The geometric element of the safety grill and veneer
finish on the safety door blends seamlessly with the overall look of the entrance design. The luxurious
look is imparted to the home by the minimal but unique blend of design styles.
“We used the expanse to create a perfect canvas for highlighting spry hues and metallic notes into a
largely monochromatic abode.” The veneers remain consistent throughout the space within. The foyer radiates as the elegant art-decoinspired gold+mirror installation and adjacent marble-finished console with gilded legs shine upon the
veneer panelling.
The two-stepped pooja unit, seating lord Ganesha, is housed in a traditional arch supported upon pillars
and finished with a back panel of jaali design. The brass knobs in the unit and their combination with the
wooden and white finish harmonize with this intricately carved dwelling.
Further, the bar unit integrates as a piece of stoic, modern, and functional furniture. Its sharpness is
expressed with a white quartz platform and black-tinted glass shutters. The storage and bar design are
customized as per the client’s needs.
“The living room layout stands out due to the variety of spaces it creates using a unique material palette,
starting from a public gathering space to a personal space.” The space departs from whites, where the livelier and more sophisticated elements shine upon a moody
grey backdrop. The European beadings, ceramic wall decor, and abstract artworks assisted by focused
warm lighting form an ensemble that enhances the richness of the space. The gold lining throughout the
seatings, velvet fabric with muted brighter hues, and uniquely designed side-table conduct the mood of
the room.
The dark wooden finish and green upholstery on the 6-seater dining set create the most intimate place
within the living room. They are a clear departure from lighter tones in the social spaces. The dark
wooden rafters add to the moodiness. The dining area is crowned by the chandelier, enriching its
exclusivity.
The kitchen is a marriage of functionality and beauty, following the suit of mixing styles and diffusing the
greys. The sophistication follows suit too, where the intricate Moroccan tiles hold their presence against
ceramic modular furniture, punctuated with a playful fluted glass shutter. The white quartz platform ties
the busy patterns and dark colours together, adding lustre to a grey-yellow kitchen.
