Project Shanti casa is an independent ancestral home reimagined for two brothers, each occupying a floor of the residence. Renovating a home steeped in memory is always an intricate journey, one that demands sensitivity, restraint, and thoughtful design interventions. This project was no exception.

One of the most defining challenges we encountered was the presence of awkwardly positioned structural pillars punctuating every room. What initially felt like a limitation soon became an opportunity. Rather than concealing or resisting them, we chose to celebrate these elements. Some pillars were transformed into sculptural features, quiet yet powerful focal points anchoring the space while others were seamlessly absorbed into bespoke wardrobes and storage solutions. This approach not only optimised spatial efficiency but also allowed structural necessities to evolve into intentional design statements.

The outcome is a home that balances its inherited character with a refined, contemporary elegance

honouring the past while embracing the present.

While both floors share an identical layout, it is the entrances that truly distinguish them. The lobbies on each level are designed as deeply personal thresholds, setting the tone for what lies beyond. These spaces became our favourite moments in the home where individuality took centre stage. Through varied materials, textures, and architectural expressions, each lobby reflects the distinct personality of its occupant, offering a meaningful and memorable introduction to their private world.
