‘The Samco’, a newly renovated restaurant is an eye-catching landmark due to its striking blend of vintage traditional architecture and neo-modern aesthetics. The existing building is an outdated & generic structure facing the commercial street in a busy commuting town. Our studio strives to recall the thoughtful & transformative process of design which includes understanding the food culture, people and spatial needs and also the need to create a striking, eye-catching landmark where heritage meets contemporary design.

The goal was to preserve the soul of traditional architecture while introducing a fresh neo-modern touch through a vibrant palette and bold geometric elements that honour the past while speaking to the future. The entry doorway is the quadrant of a circle, incorporating a grid pattern of metal and glass, sheltered with the Mangalore tile roofing. The foyer space is thoughtfully designed for the town's local folks where they can gather and relax. The patrons are greeted by a spacious reception counter with green glossy grid tiles and metallic wall installation depicting the brand title.

The dining space is equipped with cushioned banquettes & chairs of industrial styles. Dining Spaces are defined by the partition walls, which echo the line motifs & dynamic character of the space. The use of a grid design that is echoed across floors, walls, and ceilings, creates a sense of cohesion and symmetry throughout the interior. This clean, organized pattern is further enhanced by a subtle green line element that runs across the space—an integral part of the restaurant’s brand & visual identity.

Every lighting element is carefully chosen to complement the grid pattern and geometric shapes scattered across the interiors. In high-traffic areas, where human interaction is frequent, practicality takes centre stage. Terracotta-coloured tiles on floors and white tiles on columns are chosen for their ease of maintenance while adding to the aesthetic of the space.

The colour palette plays a pivotal role in establishing the mood and ambience. Bright, vibrant tones used selectively, contrast against a warm & subtle background creating a unique atmosphere that feels both cosy and inviting. This carefully crafted balance brings the restaurant a fresh, contemporary energy while maintaining a connection to its traditional roots. The overall effect is a space that exudes comfort and warmth but remains visually stimulating.
