The brief was to design a residential space for a family of five members. The client is a business man by profession and passionate about photography of wildlife animals. The brief was to design a home with openness between the green spaces and the built form while maintaining adequate privacy from adjoining plots. The site with an area of 5614sq.ft. is located in a gated community in Anand, Gujarat.

The “Vithalesh” has a linear plot offering ideal amount of frontage, allowing the built to be arranged at back providing pleasant landscape with Royal Palms in front. The entry passage leads to floating staircase with lily pond continuing to a metal covered hanging canopy,flanked by a beautiful semi-covered sitting overlooking lush green bed. The front elevation is composed with openable aluminium screens giving an impression of beautiful ranges of mountains and emitting light through circular voids at night.

The house is designed in contemporary interior style with the entry visually opening to a central pond . The courtyard on north is the main spine of the house visually connecting all the general spaces and first floor passage with staircase emerging from edge of pond with water body beneath. The space is enhanced with similar aluminium screening as used in the front elevation with decorative hanging light from ceiling through pergola with toughen glass covering. The living room is carved in wooden ceiling with ivory sofa overlooking Royal Palms and soothing greenery. The feature mirror walls amplifies the space, reflecting the puja room and dinning in respective space.

The puja has a royal backdrop with teal decorative furniture. The dinning and kitchen are visually connected following a sober theme, with the feature wall in dinning creating an illusion of endlessness. The guest bedroom on ground floor is bathed in tan colour palette with beautifully designed bed in bamboo. The central water body with double height opening becomes the spine of the house, with metal staircase leading to the above floors. The space is enhanced with similar metal screening as used in the front elevation.

The first floor consists of four spaces; in west direction overlooking garden downstairs is master bedroom. The room has ligneous vibe with stunning shots captured by client along with attached lavish washroom and dressing. The passage has multiple pictures captured by client. The east side has parent’s room done in very aesthetic style with subtle colour scheme and antique bed. Opposite to which there is children’s bedroom with a playful design in minty shades with unique and pop artwork on walls. The bar and home theatre is the heart of house with the feature wall having lot of different billboards making a perfect mood with bright murals with red sofa and unique centre table.

Overall, this modern house is timeless rustic beauty. The p[planning is strategically done to carve out spill over places as well as landscape pockets while use of aluminum fenestration with patterns beautifies the house and offers privacy to balcony.
