Wonder Bowl Melbourne by Parallel Workshop Architects

Designed based on the concept of Wonder Bowl's signature noodles, the lobby on Little Lonsdale St is driven by elements that reflect the fundamental ingredients in a bowl of noodles, while paying homage to the traditional Chinese noodle-making process.

Featuring a canopy of "noodle" lights inspired by the noodle-drying process, the entrance accentuates the journey of noodle-making from scratch; creating a continuous intimate experience from the entrance to the restaurant above. The ripples on the vibrant vinyl flooring act as paths to the dining space through the stair and elevator portal, showcasing the unique Wonder Bowl experience from start to end.

Warm and earthy tones broken through with ripples of blue, illuminated by slivered mirrors, emulate the gleam of Wonder Bowl's rich superior broth in their trademarked porcelain bowls. The team was inspired by the mastery handicraft of noodles that is essential to traditions and customs in the Chinese culture. This has been translated through the vision on recreating the classic street food setting, while also honoring the transformation of ingredients as a divine journey.
