In this 2500 sq.ft apartment, poised on the banks of the Tapi River, the architecture is not merely a construction of walls but a tactile experience — a living, breathing space where materiality and landscape converge. The home reveals itself through layers, each transition orchestrated to engage the senses, to dissolve boundaries between the inside and outside.

The entrance, a prelude to the journey within, is conceived as an art gallery. The moment the door opens, a red sand dunes texture stretches across the walls, evoking raw, elemental landscapes. This tactile surface wraps around to the kitchen, guiding movement and perspective, drawing one deeper into the core of the home.

At the heart of the space, an open floor plan allows for the free interplay of light, shadow, and view. The river is always present, unfolding like a living mural through the expanse of glass. The living room, which opens seamlessly onto the deck, becomes an extension of the river itself. The deck’s ceiling, a sculptural fabric installation in a wave pattern, moves with the breeze, animating the space with the fluidity of water, mimicking the gentle flow of the Tapi below.

Underfoot, Kota stone, honed to its natural finish, grounds the interior in tactility. Each step connects the resident to the earth, a sensory reminder of the natural world that permeates the design. In the informal area between the living and dining, river-finished golden Kota stone is laid diagonally, framing a swing — an element of playful suspension, movement against the stillness of stone.

The apartment becomes not just a place to live but a canvas of crafted spaces, each imbued with a unique emotional texture, as if shaped by the river’s breath itself.
