“YUTORI” - a Japanese word that generally translates to a space having a sense of spaciousness, relaxation, and breathing room in one’s life, both physically and mentally. It’s about creating a space for balance, reducing stress, and allowing for moments of reflection and rejuvenation.

The design process of this project revolved around this central idea (Yutori) Minimalistic and modern design approach was adopted. Simple and functional forms were the primary focus. Unnecessary layers of panelling were intentionally avoided to maintain a minimalistic approach. The material palette was also kept simple and minimal to allow the space feel free and breathable. White oak wood, veneer, lime wash paint and splashes of colour in fabric and plants formed the material palette for this home.
