The Marble Display Centre was envisioned as more than just a showroom—it was conceived as an immersive gallery for natural stone. The central inspiration was drawn from the inherent qualities of marble, granite, and quartzite: their veins, textures, and the organic fluidity found in nature. The design intent was to translate these natural patterns into built form, creating a free-flowing spatial experience that extends from the façade to the flooring, ceilings, and circulation paths. The concept emphasized movement and continuity, with each space unfolding into the next in a seamless manner. This approach allowed the materials themselves to become the protagonist, displayed through book-matched installations, mock-ups, and textured finishes, giving visitors a holistic understanding of stone in both raw and refined applications.

A parametric façade, crafted from prefabricated steel structures, sets the tone for the immersive interior journey, where book-matched slabs, mock-up living spaces, and curated display zones highlight the versatility of stone. More than a retail environment, the centre offers visitors a spatial narrative of natural stone’s beauty, scale, and adaptability.

One of the greatest challenges was the transformation of an existing Mercedes-Benz showroom into a marble display centre. The original structure consisted largely of a flat glass façade, which had to be completely reimagined. To achieve the organic language of the new design, a parametric façade inspired by the form of overlapping leaves was introduced. This required extensive steel fabrication and precise coordination during installation. Another major challenge lay in handling the sheer scale of the materials, particularly six-meter-tall book-matched marble slabs. These had to be carefully craned into the interior and fixed with precision, pushing both engineering and execution teams to their limits.

The building’s transformation relied heavily on prefabricated steel structures, which enabled the creation of the complex parametric façade. Steel served as the backbone for both the exterior framework and several interior structural interventions. Inside, extensive dry cladding techniques were employed to mount marble and granite, ensuring durability while reducing wet construction processes. Natural stone was the dominant material throughout—marble, granite, and quartzite were expressed in various forms, textures, and finishes, underscoring the centre’s role as a showcase for the versatility of stone.

The spatial layout was designed as a continuous journey, ensuring that visitors naturally encounter every display zone without missing key experiences. A sequence of spaces was created: from a dramatic double-height gallery for book-matched marble panels, to immersive mock-up zones for kitchens, dining, and bedrooms, to more intimate areas for onyx displays and sanitary fixtures in stone. This curated progression highlights the adaptability of natural stone across scales and applications, while maintaining a cohesive, organic flow. The result is a centre that is as much about experience as it is about display—an architectural narrative woven in stone.
