The Public Block accommodates the sitout, entrance verandah, and the preserved existing structure, which houses the guest living spaces. This block retains the strongest connection to the ancestral character of the house and acts as the welcoming face of the residence.
The Semi-Public Block contains the dining area, kitchen, and the associated utility spaces. Conceived as the functional core of the home, this zone seamlessly connects the public and private areas while maintaining ease of movement and spatial openness around the courtyard.

The Private Block houses the family living spaces, bedrooms, balconies, and attic areas. Positioned to ensure privacy and comfort, this block creates intimate family spaces while still remaining visually connected to the central courtyard and the larger architectural composition.
The composition evolves as a cluster of interconnected sloping roof forms inspired by traditional Kerala architecture. The tiled roofs, deep verandahs, internal courtyards, and layered open spaces respond climatically to Kerala’s tropical environment while preserving the visual identity of the ancestral home.
Chorinjath Taravadu ultimately becomes more than a renovation or extension project — it is an architectural dialogue between heritage and modernity. The design preserves the spirit of the ancestral home while allowing it to evolve gracefully for a new generation.
