Nestled between the lush greenery of Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) forest and the dynamic cityscape of the Mumbai suburbs, this project offers a unique experience of an inside-out living. Located on the 25th floor, the 2500 sq. ft. apartment seamlessly blends the tranquillity of the corresponding nature with the vibrancy of urban life. Throughout the year, the house frames the changing seasons, spanning both sides, maintaining a constant connection between the indoors and the outdoors.

The concept of montage is embraced as a guiding design principle, drawn to its ability to craft a more fluid and interconnected narrative. Unlike collage, which often highlights dissonance and fragmentation, montage here emphasises continuity, allowing disparate elements to merge into a seamless, cohesive story. This approach aligns more closely with our vision to lead the user through a layered and immersive experience, where every component contributes meaningfully to a unified whole rather than existing in isolation or contrast.

Each space within the apartment is well defined by its ceiling, which gently curves to soften the room’s corners, evoking a sense of grandeur and sculptural elegance. This design language creates the impression that the interiors have been delicately moulded, with the ceiling seamlessly connecting to the floor through a vertical element that becomes a unifying architectural feature throughout the apartment.

The spatial planning was conceived with clarity and intention, with a single entrance door connecting the foyer to both the main living area and the adjacent servant’s room. The kitchen, bar, dining, and living zones were envisioned as a cohesive, open-plan environment, avoiding physical partitions to encourage an effortless spatial flow. This thoughtful integration transforms the area into a harmonious continuum, where each zone complements and elevates the others, dissolving the notion of isolated rooms.

The open layout not only enhances the visual expanse of the interiors but also forges a fluid connection with the tranquil outdoor landscape. Whether cooking, enjoying a drink, or simply unwinding, individuals can move freely between activities, nurturing a sense of connection and vibrancy throughout the home.

As par the bedroom layouts, certain walls were intentionally treated to incorporate wardrobes and concealed niches, offering discreet storage solutions. The existing toilet configurations were reassessed and expanded to accommodate these enhancements without compromising spatial integrity.

The master bedroom, in particular, was re-envisioned to include a walk-in closet adjacent to the toilet, with the washbasin thoughtfully positioned outside for greater utility. To achieve a generous wardrobe length, the wall along the entryway was subtly shifted towards the living area, aligning the wardrobe shutters neatly along the column edge. This adjustment allows the master bedroom to have its elevations to be concisely continual.

The house is seen to have thoughtfully layered elements, where the rich textures, subtle reflections, and varied hues of the multi-jasper stone and oak veneer intertwine to establish a seamless visual rhythm. Instead of concentrating hues in a single space, the materials are thoughtfully dispersed throughout, elevating the unique character of each room.

This design philosophy celebrates the materiality of both marble and veneer, drawing attention to their tactile nature and organic patterns, resulting in an immersive sensory experience.

In the bathrooms, the choice of natural stone extends beyond aesthetic appeal. It depicts a purposeful expression of the design intent, showcasing the stone’s inherent beauty. This considered approach imbues each space with depth, warmth, and a sense of intimate individuality.
